To perform sculling on the back with the hands down by your sides, lie on your back with your palms facing down, and move your hands in a small, controlled back-and-forth motion while keeping your fingers together and your hands slightly cupped. Gradually increase the size of your sculling motion, while maintaining a stable body position and a smooth, continuous motion with your hands. You can vary the speed and size of your sculling motion to adjust your position in the water, but be sure to keep your elbows straight and your head and legs in a neutral position. With practice, this technique can improve your swimming efficiency and control.
